As the date of the Kent Test is September. This means that some pupils whose birthday falls in late August will be just 10 years old. It is the Teacher's opinion that Kent Test work should commence from mid-way through Year 4. This allows the pupil a steady balanced learning curve and in most cases this means one hour a week and success is far more likely.

It is undesirable to leave tuition until part way through Year 5, as this puts unnecessary pressure on the pupil, because a far quicker learning rate is required. Many pupils and parents find this approach both stressful and unsuccessful.
